A javascript ad rotate is what I used on the old board. When I finally learned to use SSI as an ad rotator I was more than pleased with the results.
It was 8 or 9 years ago that I learned to use SSI to do a lot of different things. I never did make a javascript ad do the same thing I could do with SSI. Search engines couldn’t pull my urls out so whether the ads would rotate or not didn’t much matter as far as passing PR or Link juice.
Altho I did buy an ad rotator once and still use it but I bought it because it worked across domains and servers. The pages getting the ads could be on a totally different server on a totally different host.
What I used the SSI rotate for was for blocks of text that would be inserted into my pages depending on what day or week of the month it was. All of us hot porn webmasters and me being into hot teens, knew that the search engines liked to see sites updated better than they liked sites that never got updated. Si I updated my sites using SSI.
Lol, I debated about putting the links into this post because it could be a standalone page and sell ad rotators but I decided I’d rather put them in. After all, this is a porn site and my sites need all the help and links they can get. Whatever.
I had to laugh the other day when I got an email from a GURU telling me how I could have this wonderful Ad Rotator that worked just like googles does for the adsense ads. I read the whole email and the page he was pushing it on just to see what he had to say.
Things like now you can make more money without using adsense to rotate ads for you. Run any ads you want with no censorship. Run multiple ads that will show sponsors you want to show, and on and on and on. It’s a new, revolutionary system to make you tons of money and best of all it’s a secret very few know.
I forgot what it was selling for. 29 bucks or so but that’s not to amazing. What amazed me was that anyone would buy it. So I emailed the guy and said big deal, I was using ad rotation years ago and used and still use SSI to do it. What’s the difference except yours is written in PHP. Javascript, SSI or PHP, all three methods still work.
I didn’t relly expect a reply but I got one anyway. Nice, polite and professional, unlike me. He said he’d done things the same way in the past and was now writing all his stuff with PHP. I figured out right then that I wasn’t in his target market. I also figured out that a lot of the things we do on the adult side can be sold on the non adult side.
A little late to be figuring that out but I’m sure there are other things I do that I think nothing of because I’ve been doing them for years, that can be sold. The stuff just seems so common and ordinary that I find it hard to believe that everyone doesn’t know it.
I know some of you worry about competition but most people, who are our competition now have no clue about anything. Slap up a wordpress blog, get your on on myspace or blogger and sell some porn. They have no clue what they are doing so even tho google may return 100 million results for a term it’s not likely that more than 1000 sites are serious competition.
Sad fact is amateurs now rule the web. Pretty simple, write a page, use your keywords in the title and in the text and then go get links. Newbies are wonderful things and you can sell them almost anything. To bad I didn’t think of the ad rotate thing in PHP.
