It would appear that using social bookmarks to get links to your sites and to gain better serps is going to come to and end. Just like blog comments used to work, social bookmarks can work well, for now. MOF I use them for some of my hot sexy teens pages and for a lot of my non adult stuff.
However some idiot went public with a beta test of some software that will allow 500 people who are going to social bookmark sites to bookmark each others sites in a cooperative effort. Thus raising all their rankings. At least they have the good sense to not allow any type of naked teens legal small tits sites or porn in the club.
When you get software, and a scheme, then google sits up and takes notice. Now the fact they guy is making this a membership site means he truly doesn’t give a damn if it works for years or for just a few months.
He’s going to get his money from the monthly fee people have to pay to be part of the social bookmarking club. When googles starts penalizing or refusing to give link juice for the social bookmarking sites he’ll laugh all the way to the bank.
Going public with this scheme and allowing google to see a mass organized effort to manipulate the search engine results is going to irritate the hell out of google, ala the blog comment spam, scraper sites, etc. and they will do something about it.
Google wants things to be natural and until Google is usurped by another search engine or a different mode of search they are going to run things. They make their money providing results that people want to see and anything that makes those results diffeent than what google thinks they should be is causing google and it’s shareholders harm, in Googles view.
You see, it’s all about money, as usual. Webmasters want to make more and Google wants to make more. I can tell you who is going to win. Google is. Simply because they control the serps. That’s how it is, the biggest with the deepest pockets usually wins.
Now this social bookmarking scam isn’t all that much different from what I wanted a much smaller and more private group of people to do with blog posts and comments. MOF it’s why you can log in here and make your own post.
Google is still gung ho about blogs since the created the nofollow tag to get rid of blog spam. 7-10 people with a couple of blogs apiece could do wonders for all of their sites and pages but it seems no one understands the concept or has the ability to see what it could do for them and for their rankings.
BTW, rankings mean more money and there is no simpler way to get rankings than with blog posts and comments, as long as you don’t go overboard, advertise it everywhere and make it a memberhip site for 500 people.
Done quietly and behind the scenes so it appears natural is as good as it can get. Google wants natural and they diligently try to sniff out anythng that doesn’t look natural.
A group of webmasters in cooperation can do more than any one webmaster alone will ever be able to do. That’s why the person doing the social bookmark scheme is doing it. Everyone knows it will work but they don’t stop to think how long it will work. So they pay their money for a short term solution when they should be going for a long term solution.
Remember when myspace links were direct links? Go ahead and check them now. They haven’t been direct links for qute sometime now and I’ve dropped myspace from my network of connected sites. You can expect the same from the rest of those type sites.
Lol, I also expect porn on YouTube to come to a sudden end one of these days. Yep, people like videos but when it hits the news that YouTube has as much porn as they do, you can expect that to be gone too.
Nope, I’m not a psychich. However all you have to do is look at whats happened at other places in the past and you can or should be able to see the writing on the wall.
You need to realize that Google has lots of smart people working for them and do things the way google wants them or at least appear to do things the way google wants them. Then google will like you and reward you with higher search engine rankings. If you don’t do what google likes or at least appear to be doing what google likes then you risk everything and it’s just not worth it.
It’s funny but when I was working out the blog and comment scheme in my head I thought about the fact it was really a lot of work to do something that wasn’t quite natural yet make it appear to be natural. However if you want to control your own destiny that’s what it takes.
IMO oragnized and paid for social bookmarking is going to go the same way as paid links and link farms. Just as paid blog posts are coming under fire now. Don’t worry tho, the quick buck scam artitst will get theirs and the rest of us will pay for it with all our social links not being worth a damn thing as far as link juice goes.
