Javascript ad rotate, SSI and PHP ad rotators

Category: Ask Mr Porn — TLA @ 1:22 pm

A javascript ad rotate is what I used on the old board. When I finally learned to use SSI as an ad rotator I was more than pleased with the results.

It was 8 or 9 years ago that I learned to use SSI to do a lot of different things. I never did make a javascript ad do the same thing I could do with SSI. Search engines couldn’t pull my urls out so whether the ads would rotate or not didn’t much matter as far as passing PR or Link juice.

Altho I did buy an ad rotator once and still use it but I bought it because it worked across domains and servers. The pages getting the ads could be on a totally different server on a totally different host.

What I used the SSI rotate for was for blocks of text that would be inserted into my pages depending on what day or week of the month it was.  All of us hot porn webmasters and me being into hot teens, knew that the search engines liked to see sites updated better than they liked sites that never got updated. Si I updated my sites using SSI. (more…)

Banner ads and text links plus mature woman sites

Category: Ask Mr Porn — TLA @ 9:40 am

Banner ads suck. We all know that don’t we. Text ads work better and we should all know that too. Matter of fact the text ads Google likes best are text links like this one to this mature womans site.

Mature Woman Porn is going to work much better than a 468×60 banner ad for the same site.  The same as Older Women Pics is going to work better than most any banner you can use. BTW, if you don’t like porn or older womens naked porn pics I’d suggest you not click on either link as they do go to mature womens porn pics.

So why am I getting emails from my sponsors saying we have a ‘New hard hitting banner ad’ for older or mature womens sites.  Unless it’s a trick banner for older women or whatever a text link ad is going to work much better.

People are banner blind and we all know they have been for years. It’s nothing new and it doesn’t (more…)

MySpace links, social bookmarks and blog comments

Category: Ask Mr Porn — TLA @ 9:56 am

It would appear that using social bookmarks to get links to your sites and to gain better serps is going to come to and end. Just like blog comments used to work, social bookmarks can work well, for now. MOF I use them for some of my hot sexy teens pages and for a lot of my non adult stuff.

However some idiot went public with a beta test of some software that will allow 500 people who are going to social bookmark sites to bookmark each others sites in a cooperative effort. Thus raising all their rankings. At least they have the good sense to not allow any type of naked teens legal small tits sites or porn in the club.

When you get software, and a scheme, then google sits up and takes notice. Now the fact they guy is making this a membership site means he truly doesn’t give a damn if it works for years or for just a few months.

He’s going to get his money from the monthly fee people have to pay to be part of the social bookmarking club. When googles starts penalizing or refusing to give link juice for the social bookmarking sites he’ll laugh all the way to the bank. (more…)

Picking a porn site host

Category: Ask Mr Porn — TLA @ 10:47 am

Picking a pon site host is harder than picking a non porn site host. First off a lot of web hosts won’t accept porn sites so that narrows down the field considerably.

The thing everyone tells you is the host needs to have 99.9% uptime. Sure that’s important but it’s not the most important. Hell, I have a non porn host, that shall be nameless, at least until tomorrow.

Supposedly a good host but…….the usual when there is a problem. What you hear is “It’s your fault your sites don’t work. Plus all your htaccess files are wrong.” Lol, now how that could be I have no clue as I hadn’t touched anything for 6 months after I got it working.

After searching for awhile I finally found the address for their support. Believe it or not there was no phone number listed for support. So I emailed support and got back an email that said essentially, here, this will fix it as your htaccess is all wrong.

Now I knew what they sent wouldn’t fix it but I tried it anyway. Then I emailed them back and told them their fix didn’t work. Then they emailed me another fix they said would solve the problem and I emailed them back, very irritated, asking them if they tested their own damn fixes before they sent them out. Obviously not as it didn’t work.

Then I tried to find out what they hell they had changed and support said nothing had changed. By now I’m really pissed because I know they are lying. If I haven’t changed anything they had to have changed something. Besides I was pissed about the poor support and the non tested, non working fixes.

Told them if they sent me another one that didn’t work I was going to leave their hosting. Naturally I got another one that didn’t work so I sent a nasty email back telling them to have a supervisor call me. Guess what, no call.

The next day I got lucky and some guy answered the phone at the billing dept. He did what he could and got it back so at least I could work on the problem THEY CAUSED. He informed me they had installed a new C-panel and it had broken lots of things.

I figured I could fix it so I spent a week trying different things to no avail. Sunday morning I couldn’t log in to my account with ftp so I got really pissed. Tryed the button for live support and guess what? Nobody fucking there. So I emailed support again, bitching about that problem.

Told them not to bother me with emails and non fixes, that I’d know when it was fixed. Naturally they ignored me and sent email anyway. Oops, delete as I didn’t want to deal with their idiotic crap.

This morning I found a new host, backed up my databases and gave them until tomorrow at 6 PM CDT to get it fixed or I’m gone. Supposedly a big outfit and recommended by some god damned guru who wouldn’t know good hosting if he saw it.

So, support is even more important than uptime. There damn site is up by my main domain and 4 subdomains don’t work correctly. Counts as uptime for their stats but it sure as hell doesn’t count as uptime for mine.

Be damn sure you check out their support before you go with any host. If it’s not fixed by tomorrow night I’ll reveal what great host this is. Yes, I’m an asshole but I refuse to waste any more of my time dealing with idiots who keep telling me the problem is mine when they know it’s not.

Porn blogs, porn spam and links

Category: Ask Mr Porn — TLA @ 9:23 am

Porn blogs seem to generate a lot more pron spam and other spam that non adult sites do. I have several other blogs that aren’t porn blogs and they get about 1% of the spam that this blog gets.

With word press doing such a nice job at catching spam I don’t to much worry about it but 3,768 spam comments and less than 25 legitimate comments. Now the blog caught almost all of them. I seldom have to delete comments as it’s done for me.

When I make a post about teen porn or a subject like barely legal teen porn I can expect even more spam if the post ranks high in the SE. I suppose the fact that I don’t “noFollow” links is a part of the problem but what’s the point of trying to get people to link to your posts in you don’t let them get some link juice from their own posts.

I’d love to see a list of blogs that talk about porn and the links are followed. I’d be at a few of them everyday posting comments that were relevant and help the owner make more money. noFollow links just discourage coments and I see little point at posting at blogs where links aren’t followed.

If someone has a list of decent adult blogs or forums that do follow links please make a comment with a link in it to the site or page and I will see to it the comment is approved.

Lol, another thing I’d like to see is some type of AdSense for porn. Anyone with any ideas on how to monetize a Word Press porn blogs should also post a comment with a link and it will get seen. MOF, you might even make a bit of money from referrals as long as it goes to a page of yours and not to a sponsors page.

I suppose one of these days I should get around to monetizing this blog but I don’t care for all the complicated hoops you have to jump through to get things in and then have them be lost when you upgrade the blog software.

I see a few places are coming out with RSS feeds for porn blogs but those don’t interest me as much as something like adsense for porn blogs would.
