If making money online or making more money on the net is important to you then you should probably read the latest page I wrote the other day. It’s a short rant about things that bother me on websites and I know they bother surfers.
I’m putting this post in the non adult section of the ask mr porn blog but I want you to be aware the page it’s pointing to does have links to nudity. Making money online can teach old and new webmasters something.
The only reason I’m putting this post here is because the page I wrote is fairly important and I’m afraid a lot of you won’t notice it stuck over there with the rest of the standalone pages. Go to it and read it.
How many traffic leaks do you have. Understand that anything that offers the surfer an opportunity to leave your site is costing you money. If you absolutley have to have somethig on your page to make you money, put it on the last page of your site and well below your signup script.
Anything else is taking sales away from you and costing you money in the long term. If you are selling memberships and you have a site plastered with links to other paysites what do you suppose the surfer thinks?
Perhaps they might think your site is so bad that you want them to go away. Not exactly what you had in mind is it. Oh hell, never mind, just click the above link and go read the page I put up a few days ago. You will learn something.

Social bookmarks are all the rage with the internet marketers and gurus. Unfortunately they don’t tell you all the facts.
Can you make money using social bookmarks? Certainly can. How much? Ah, you want the truth or you want what he guru’s tell you? If you want the facts keep reading, if you want to believe what the gurus tell you then go back to your guru and let him explain all the lies he told or the things he couched in terms so that you would infer what he wanted you to rather than the truth of the matter.
The fact of the matter is few social bookmarks have links that are followed. Most social bookmark sites use “NoFollow” links to sites or send them through a cgi program which is as bad as nofollow. IOW you don’t get any PR credit for the bookmark you put in.
Gurus say you’ll get a flood of traffic from social bookmarking all of your sites and pages. Lol, that’s true if you consider a couple of visitors a week a flood. I suppose if you have zero visitors 3 might be a flood. (more…)

Lol, at last a non porn post and with no urls to hot teen chicks. More of a rant at my own stupidity and a heads up for those of you who never do backups.
I’ve had an ongoing problem with my laptop HD since late December or early January. No big deal as everything on my internal hard drive is backed up to an external HD.
Naturally I bought a new HD for the laptop and when I got it I backed up everything, again, to the external drive and then inserted the new drive. However when I tried to restart the PC wouldn’t find the new HD and Dell has such a wonderful system I couldn’t/can’t get into the actual bios to see if the damn drive is even there.
I also can’t find a way around Dell’s page for items in Bios. Pissed me off to no end. Still does. I don’t know what the problem is or even how to get to it to fix it. Sheesh. Don’t even actually know if the new drive spins or not. So it’s sitting on my bookcase waiting for me to think of something new to try or to run across a solution. (more…)

One thing that anyone who has their own site online is worried about is how to get website traffic. Though for many, this is essential for business reasons, even those who just have a small personal site want others to stop by and visit.
This is something that has been important since the web became popular with the general public, and it is something that might never change. What does change, however is the ways people draw this traffic to their sites.
When I was first online, I noticed a lot people simple begging others to come visit their sites. This was how many thought they were going to get website traffic. Granted, back then, no one really knew what to do and how to get people to their sites.
There were many searches and I do know that it was hard to find what you were looking for most times. Begging for website traffic couldn’t last long. It was very annoying and even the people doing it knew it. There are still some that do it, but most people have taken a different approach.
Today, people go about finding website traffic in much different ways. Some still visit forums and post links to their sites, and this does work well on a small scale. However if you are looking for huge website traffic numbers, you are going to have to do something else.
One thing is advertising, and some like to do this. Google’s Adsense program is a good one. This uses the keywords in content to place relevant ads on the site. Some drive in traffic simply by using the right keywords.
No matter how you go about getting website traffic, you can keep tabs on who is visiting by getting software that tracks visitors. You will not see
names and addresses, of course, but you can see city, state, and country, and you can also see how long they were there and what pages they visited.
This can help you decide who is coming, and what is working on your site and what is being skipped over. This will help tailor any site to what the
visitor wants. When they get what they want, they are more likely to come back. Even though you are not getting any personal information about
these people, make sure they do not know they are being tracked. They may think the worst, even though you aren’t getting anything other than basic activity information.

I’m not in the habit of pushing other peoples stuff and I really have a hard time figuring out how to apply web2. techniques to porn sites. Most places won’t or don’t like urls to adult sites.
However becuause I’m trying to transition to non adult I’ve been paying a lot more atention to non porn things and methods.
Even if you aren’t into web 2.0 you should go check out this free book. Costs you absolutely nothing and is a very good book. Authority Black Book for 2008
While thats quite interesting I ran into a gray hat technique the other day that involves using ar least 15 different names and email addresses for your bookmarks. Nice easy, sneaky way to get great on topic and on target text in the links.
I’ll post more about that after I look into it a bit more.
